You need: paper, preferably grid paper and not too thin, a sewingmachine with an ordinary needle, synthetic hair, thread to match the hair colour and Liquid Gold (LG).

1: Start by marking out how wide your weft will be on your paper using a pen or pencil. These are hard to cut later, so you have to get it right the first time. Also make marks with an interval of about an inch (2cm). This will help you to know when to turn while sewing.

2: Time to sew! Use the paper as the base to sew on (pic 2). The red in the pic is hair, the blue is stitching. Take it very slow and easy. Work with just 1/2 to 1 inch at a time. Start by taking a little bit of hair and spreading it out over the line you've marked om the paper. The midpoint of the hair is suppose to cover the center line. Don't use too much hair, it will get folded double later.

Sew over the hair, following the marked line, back up, and sew it again. You should run over each 1 inch section of the weft three times. Then you continue by adding some more hair and stitching until the wefted section is long enough.

Footnote: I don't know why I made the text in the pics in swedish but i'll alter it when I get the time =)

3: The final phase of the sewing. Continue working with just an inch or so at the time. Fold the hair from one side to the other so you have all the hair on one side of the seam. Be sure not to rip the hair from the paper. The longer the hair, the easier it is to work with. Try to pull all the hair in the same direction, sew three times like before and continue the whole length of the weft. Try to keep the seams at a distance of about 1 cm. The last seam goes between the first and the second. Finsh an inch at a time, sew it thrice as usual.

4: Time to take the weft of the paper. Use a needle if necessary and be careful not to rip the hair from the seams. Pull the seams tighter together. If you're going to glue the weft on you're done. If you're going to use microrings or another method of securing the weft you need to apply some Liquid Gold to it. Just spread a thin layer on both sides and let dry overnight. This pic showes the finished result before gluing.

I hope this was useful.
